A 23-year-old Brandon man is facing several firearm-related charges following an early morning incident at an apartment building in Portage la Prairie.
Portage la Prairie RCMP were called to the 600 block of 6th Street Northwest at about 2 a.m. on Aug. 31 after receiving reports that a man had entered the building carrying a shotgun.
When officers arrived, they were directed to the third floor, where witnesses reported seeing a shirtless male carrying the firearm. RCMP began checking apartment units and eventually heard two men arguing inside one suite.
Police announced their presence and were granted entry to the apartment. Officers located the suspect inside a bathroom and took him into custody without further incident.
During a search of the suite, RCMP discovered a shotgun hidden under a bed.
Slade Anderson-Houle, 23, of Brandon, has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Anderson-Houle was remanded into custody following his arrest.
