Recruiting and training efforts for Prairie Mountain Health have resulted in new additions to services in both midwifery and nurse practitioners, PMH has announced.
In a release, they said Anna Lamontagne Badiou and My Duyen (Kelena) Van are joining their Midwifery Services team. According to PMH, this brings their Brandon-based program to its full complement of seven providers.
“Originally from Winnipeg, I’m thrilled to be back in Manitoba after completing my midwifery education at McMaster University,” said Lamontagne Badiou. “I’m excited to begin my career in Brandon and look forward to getting to know the community while supporting families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.”
“I am Cantonese, born in Vietnam, and immigrated to Canada in 2015,” said Van. “Since then, I have lived in Winnipeg and completed my Midwifery training and placements in Winnipeg, Winkler, and the Interlake region. I am thrilled to join Brandon Midwifery and hope that my multilingual abilities can improve accessibility to care for immigrants and newcomers in the area.”
PMH also said they would be welcoming seven University of Manitoba Master of Nursing-Nurse Practitioner graduates who will join the Primary Health Care team beginning September 21. The new practitioners will be be providing services in communities throughout the region, including Brandon, Melita, Glenboro, Wawanesa, Birdtail Sioux, Keeseekoowenin, Canupawakpa and Rivers.
