Brandon voters will have a chance to connect the names on the ballot with the people behind them as the candidates faceoff in a head to head debate tonight at Lorne Watson Recital Hall on Brandon University Campus (just south of the WMCA).
Incumbent Jeff Fawcett and challenger will express their views on what it takes to move the wheat city forward during the 90 minute public debate, one of several taking place prior to the October 28th election giving voters an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates.
The debate begins at 6 p.m. tonight (Friday, October 16t) and is being organized by the Brandon Sun, Brandon University, and WCGtv. The event is open to the public and will also be broadcast live on WCGtv and streamed online for those unable to attend in person.
The discussion will be moderated by political columnist and financial advisor Kerri Auriat, with questions from a panel that includes Brandon Chamber of Commerce President Emilio Brown, Brandon Sun reporter Alex Lambert, and Brandon University political science professor Kelly Saunders.
With municipal election day approaching, the debate is expected to focus on key issues facing Brandon, while giving residents a chance to compare the candidates’ visions for the city’s future.
The debate starts at 6 p.m. Friday at Lorne Watson Recital Hall on the Brandon University campus.
Next Wednesday, October 21st, two more ward councilor forums will be held at the Lorne Watson Hall beginning at 5 p.m. These candidate forums are open to the general public. No admission is required.
