Dauphin RCMP have made an arrest following two separate road rage incidents, with one including a knife.
The first incident occurred on Oct. 20 at around 6:20 p.m., when Dauphin RCMP received a call about a road rage incident near the intersection of 9th Avenue and 2nd Street Southwest in Dauphin.
RCMP learned a 31-year-old male was approached by an SUV while waiting at a four-way stop.
The driver of the SUV then proceeded to pull out a knife and made a gesture to the victim, indicating he was going to open his door, as the victim quickly left the scene.
RCMP learned shortly afterwards that the SUV was involved in another incident on the 1400-block of Main Street South.
The SUV driver exited his vehicle and acted erratically toward the occupants of another vehicle before getting back into the SUV and driving north toward a nearby hotel.
RCMP proceeded to the hotel, where they discovered the male inside the hotel and arrested him.
As a result, 30-year-old Dylan Smith of Valley River First Nation has been charged with:
- Assault with a weapon;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Smith was released on order by a justice with a future court date.
