🏥 Opposition Raises Alarm Over Departure of Westman’s Only Medical Oncologist
The Manitoba PC Opposition says the loss of Westman’s only medical oncologist could have serious consequences for cancer patients across the region.
Brandon West MLA Wayne Balcaen says Dr. Brady Anderson’s departure could have been avoided if provincial health officials had responded to requests for support. Balcaen also alleges the province will no longer allow Anderson to prescribe or supervise anti-cancer treatments.

⏰ Manitoba Goes Permanent on Daylight Time
Starting Sunday, Manitobans will no longer need to change their clocks in the fall.
The province is joining much of western Canada in remaining on daylight time year-round, meaning later evening sunsets but darker mornings during the winter months. Manitoba will now align with eastern cities such as Toronto and New York for much of the year.
🗳️ Brandon Voter Turnout Sees Major Increase
Roughly 27 per cent of eligible Brandon voters cast ballots in this week’s municipal election, up significantly from 17.9 per cent in 2022.
Brandon University political scientist Dr. Kelly Saunders says increased candidate engagement on issues such as affordability, public safety and property taxes likely helped drive turnout higher.
