Brandon city councillors meet tonight (Feb 6).
On the agenda, they’ll hear a staff recommendation not to award a contract to tear down the Park Community Centre. The administration says it received three bids for the contract, but all werer over the $1.2-million set aside for the work.
Also on tap, they’ll get a report about the speed limit reduction study on Durum Drive, a presentation on cutting the use of single-use plastics, and reports from the Keystone Centre board, and the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium board.
Councillors will also discuss whether to request funding from the Manitoba Water Service Board for the lift station project in the city’s southwest.

A special meeting will be held by the Brandon Police Board on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. The public is invited to attend all meetings of the municipal police board unless the meeting, or a portion of it, qualifies as needing to be held in private.
The Brandon Police Board will move into a private meeting when the following topics will be discussed:
– matters involving public security
– sensitive financial information
– personal information

And a joint ward meeting for residents of Ward 3 (Councillor Cullen) & Ward 4 (Councillor Cameron) will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Vincent Massey High School Library – 715 McDiarmid Drive.

– The City Plan
– Budget Debrief
– Borrowing/Growth
– E. Fotheringham Drive
– Valleyview School Area Parking
Members of City administration will be in attendance.
