Brandon’s ‘Alternative Choice Garden Centre’ has won the 2023 ‘Canadian Garden Centre of Distinction Award’ from the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association – a first for a Manitoba company.
The award goes to retail garden centres who have a high standard of growing teams through training and career advancement, encouraging and promoting gardening as a hobby through public engagement, use technology to enhance growing practices, and are active in their community. In addition to being named a national award winner, Alternative Choice Garden Centre was also named the Manitoba Garden Centre of the year for 2023.
This is the second national award for Alternative Choice Garden Centre – in 2019 they received the National Award for Residential Maintenance. Alternative Group has also won several provincial awards in many categories including Landscape Design, Landscape Construction, and Landscape Maintenance.

The local, family-run company has been creating award-winning outdoor landscapes since 1998 and is celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2023. Alternative Choice Garden Centre is located at 34th Street and Patricia Avenue in Brandon.
