In a media release, the City of Brandon’s Development Services section “is advising all developers, property owners, and residents of Brandon that the Province of Manitoba will be adopting and enforcing the 2020 editions of the national model construction codes effective January 1, 2024. Permits issued after January 1, 2024 will be required to adhere to the new standards.
The updated construction codes include the Building, Plumbing, Energy, and Fire Code regulations. By adopting and enforcing the new 2020 code, the Province of Manitoba honours its commitments to the Canadian Free Trade Agreement by harmonizing the adoption of national codes.
