At approximately 10:48 am last Friday (Nov 3), Brandon police were called to conduct a well-being check at an apartment in the 200 block of McDiarmid Drive.
Police say upon entry to the suite officers discovered a deceased 71 year old female. The death appears to be as a result of trauma caused by an edged weapon.
During further inspection of the suite officers located a 44 year old male, who was detained for investigative means.
Members of the Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Unit were called to the scene to further the investigation. The male was arrested for murder, and was to appear for a bail hearing Saturday.
Police say the victim and the accused are related to each other.
