New numbers from the federal government show Manitoba is set to receive a 24% boost in equalization transfers next year.
The $4.3-billion will be the largest increase going back more than a decade.
Equalization is a federally funded program that offers poorer provinces money so that they can offer services and tax rates similar to richer ones.
The news of the bump in the payments comes as Manitoba is predicting a $1.6-billion deficit this year.
