-The Saskatoon Blades downed the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2 on Monday. Brady Turko and Jaxon Jacobson scored for Brandon, but the Blades scored three unanswered goals in the second and third periods to take the win. Up next for the Wheat Kings, a game in Prince Albert on Thursday to kick-off a three-game road trip.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings have now won 28 games in-a-row after a couple of wins last weekend over the visiting Eastman Selects. Brandon is now 40-0-1-0 on the season. The Wheat Kings play again Wednesday when they host the Parkland Rangers at J&G Homes Arena.
-The Winnipeg Jets lost 6-3 to the Calgary Flames yesterday. Sean Monahan scored all three goals for the Jets. Winnipeg is back in action tonight at home to the Minnesota Wild.
-In the lone Professional Women’s Hockey League game – Gabbie Hughes scored twice as Ottawa doubled Boston 4-2.
-The Brandon University men’s volleyball team faces the Trinity Western University Spartans in Langley, BC on Thursday to begin the Canada West quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the Bobcats men’s basketball team is in Winnipeg Thursday against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in the Canada West Championship Tournament.
-At the Scotties Tournament of Hearts – Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones is 4-and-0 atop Pool B. She’ll face three-time Canadian champion Rachel Homan this evening. Homan is 3-and-0. Team Canada’s Kerri Einarson is 4-and-1 and in second place behind Alberta in Pool A. The defending champions are minus longtime lead Briane Harris, who was deemed ineligible to play hours before the tournament started for reasons unexplained by Curling Canada and the team.
