-The Medicine Hat Tigers doubled the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-3 last night. Jayden Wiens scored twice, and Jackson DeSouza had one for the Wheat Kings who are in Calgary for a game against the Hitmen tonight.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings have advanced to the next round of the playoffs. They eliminated the Eastman Selects in three straight games with a 9-2 win last night. The Southwest Cougars are a win away from advancing to Round Two. The Cougars beat the Pembina Valley Hawks 2-1 last night in Souris to take a 2-1 series lead. Game 4 goes Thursday in Morden.
-The Westman Wildcats meet the Eastman Selects in Hartney tonight in Game 1 of their best-of-five Manitoba AAA U18 Female Hockey League semifinal. The Wildcats swept the Pembina Valley Hawks in three straight in the opening round of the playoffs. The Selects eliminated the Interlake Lightning in four games in their quarterfinal series.
-The Winnipeg Jets lost 4-3 to the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night. Adam Lowry, Kyle Connor and Nino Niederreiter scored for the Jets. The two teams meet again Friday in Seattle.
-and at the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship in Regina – Manitoba’s Reid Carruthers is 4-and-1 and in third place in Pool A. Manitoba’s Matt Dunstone sits in 4th at 3-and-2. Trevor Bonot of Northern Ontario leads Pool A with a 5-1 record. This afternoon at 2:00, Carruthers faces Andrew Symonds of Newfoundland & Labrador – and Dunstone takes on Scott Howard of Ontario.
