-The Nashville Predators beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 last night. With the win, the Predators improved to 11-0-2 over their last 13 games. Winnipeg drops to third in the Central Division, two points back of the Stars and Avalanche who are tied with 89 points. The Jets play again Friday night when they host the Anaheim Ducks.
-The Westman Wildcats have advanced to the league finals with a 2-0 shutout win over the Eastman Selects last night. The Wildcats won their best-of-5 Manitoba AAA U18 Female Hockey league semi-final series 3-games-to-1. Westman will take on the Winnipeg Ice in the championship series for the third year in a row.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings and Pembina Valley Hawks play Game 2 of their semi-final series tonight in Morden. The Wheat Kings lead the best-of-5 series 1-0. In the other series – the Winnipeg Thrashers take on the Winnipeg Wild. The series is tied at one.
-The World Women’s Curling Championship gets underway this weekend in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Rachel Homan’s Team Canada plays Sweden and Denmark on Saturday. The gold-medal game is March 24th.
-and the Toronto Blue Jays cruised to their 3rd straight win in pre-season action beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-3. Toronto plays Minnesota today in Fort Myers, Florida.
