-The Vancouver Canucks topped the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 on Sunday to take a 2-1 lead in their second-round NHL playoff series – and the Florida Panthers now lead their series with the Boston Bruins 3-1 after a 3-2 victory. Tonight, the Stars host the Colorado Avalanche with Dallas leading 2-1 – and the New York Rangers can advance to the East Conference final with
a win at home over the Carolina Hurricanes.
-The Moose Jaw Warriors lead the Portland Winterhawks 2-0 in the WHL Championship final. Game 3 is tomorrow in Moose Jaw.
-Canada is 2-and-0 tied atop Group A with Switzerland at the men’s world hockey championship in Prague. Canada beat Denmark 5-1 on Sunday. The Canadians next game is Tuesday against Austria.
-At the 2024 Centennial Cup National Junior A Hockey Championship in Oakville, Ontario. The MJHL Champion Winkler Flyers take on the Oakville Blades. Winkler is 1-0-1 at the tournament – while Oakville is 1-1-0. With a win, the Flyers will move into first place in Group B and will clinch a playoff spot. Winkler will play its final round robin game Tuesday against the Miramichi Timberwolves.
-In the Professional Women’s Hockey League playoffs – Toronto is at Minnesota tonight. Toronto leads the best-of-5 semifinal 2-0.
-Canada edged the United States 2-1 for the gold medal in Sunday’s world para hockey championship final. The Canadians had lost three straight world championship finals to the Americans, as well as the 2018 and 2022 Paralympic Games finals to the U.S. Canada claimed its first world para title since 2017, and first on home ice.
-and Rory McIlroy won the Wells Fargo Championship for a record 4th time on Sunday. He closed with a 6-under 65.
