-The Dallas Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 last night to take a 3-games-to-1 lead in their second-round NHL playoff series. In the other game, the Carolina Hurricanes downed the New York Rangers 4-1 to narrow New York’s lead to 3-2. Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks visit the Edmonton Oilers – Vancouver is ahead 2-games-to-one – and the Boston Bruins, trailing 3-1, visit the Florida Panthers.
-The WHL Championship final resumes tonight in Moose Jaw. The Warriors lead the Portland Winterhawks 2-0. Moose Jaw beat Portland 3-2 last Friday and 5-1 on Saturday.
-At the Centennial Cup in Oakville, Ontario – the Winkler Flyers shutout the Oakville Blades 4-0 to clinch a playoff spot. The MJHL Champion Flyers are atop Group B with 7 points. Winkler plays their final preliminary round game tonight against the Miramichi Timberwolves.
-Minnesota blanked Toronto 2-0 in the Professional Women’s Hockey League playoffs. Toronto leads best of 5 semifinal 2-1. Montreal is in Boston tonight. Boston leads 2-0.
-and Canada plays Austria today at the Men’s World Hockey Championship. Canada is 2-and-0 and in third place in Group A.
