The Manitoba government says a significant hurdle has been cleared paving the way to begin the search of a Manitoba landfill for the remains of two women.
On Tuesday, the government announced that the South Interlake Planning District had issued an accelerated development permit for temporary structures needed to search the Prairie Green Landfill for sign of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran.
The government says “This accelerated licence approval was determined to be in the public interest. The notice of alteration will be available for viewing on the public registry.”
A search, jointly funded by the province and federal government, could begin by the end of this summer and run until early 2026. The women are believed to be victims of admitted serial killer Jeremy Skibicki, whose murder trial ended this week. The judge’s verdict is due on July 11th.
The notice of alteration is available at: Environmental Assessment and Licensing Branch | Environment and Climate Change | Province of Manitoba (gov.mb.ca)
