A storm system from Saskatchewan brought rain, loonie-sized hail and tornadoes into Manitoba on Wednesday (June 12).
Environment Canada had issued a series of tornado warnings beginning Wednesday afternoon and into the evening covering areas from the Saskatchewan border northwest of Brandon to the U.S. border near Emerson to the southeast. Tornado reports were received from Rapid City and Rivers north of Brandon, and from La Rivière to the southeast. So far, there are no reports of any significant damage.
Tornado warnings were also issued for the municipalities of Glenboro-South Cypress, North Cypress-Langford and Oakland-Wawanesa, the towns of Neepawa and Carberry, the Municipality of Lorne, the rural municipalities of Victoria and Stanley, and Winkler and Morden.
In Brandon, emergency alerts were sent to phones around 4:40 pm.
