-The Brandon Wheat Kings, the Keystone Centre, the City and the Province announced this morning they intend to bid for the 2026 Memorial Cup. The team last hosted the tournament in 2010 when the Windsor Spitfires beat the Wheat Kings 9-1 for their second straight title.
-The Edmonton Oilers host the Florida Panthers tonight for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final. An Oilers win sends the series back to Florida for a deciding Game 7 on Monday.
-The Winnipeg Jets announced their pre-season schedule for the upcoming season. Winnipeg will open its 6-game exhibition schedule at home against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, September 21st. The first road game is the next night against the Oilers in Edmonton.
-In the Thursday night CFL game – the Montreal Alouettes crushed the Ottawa Redblacks 47-21. Tonight – the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, still looking for their first win, entertain the 1-and-1 BC Lions.
-In the South West Baseball League – The Hamiota Red Sox defeated the Elkhorn Expos 5-1.
-At Euro 2024 – England and Denmark tied at 1 – so did Slovenia and Serbia – and Spain topped Italy 1-nil.
-and at COPA America 2024 in Atlanta – Argentina beat Canada 2-nil.
