-In the South West Baseball League Tuesday night – the Boissevain Centennials beat the Deloraine Royals 7-2. Boissevain at 12-and-1 have clinched a playoff spot. Elsewhere, the Wawanesa Brewers downed the Rivers Comets 7-5 – and the Oak River Dodgers topped the Reston Rockets 16-1.
-In the Majors – the Toronto Blue Jays held on for a 7-6 win over the Houston Astros.
-The Winnipeg Jets have released their 82-game schedule for the 2024-25 NHL regular season. The Jets will open the season on the road on Wednesday, October 9th in Edmonton against the Oilers. Winnipeg’s home opener is against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, October 11th. The Jets will meet the newest team in their division, the Utah Hockey Club, on November 5th at Canada Life Centre.
-Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros did not practice with the team on Tuesday. He was on the field, but not in uniform. Backups Chris Streveler and Terry Wilson Jr. took the reps with the offense. Collaros was injured late in the first half of the Blue Bombers 22-19 overtime loss to the Stampeders. The 0-and-4 Bombers next game is Friday when they host the Ottawa Redblacks.
-and at Euro 2024 – the Netherlands beat Romania 3-nil – and Turkey downed Austria 2-1. The Netherlands and Turkey will now meet each other in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Also on Saturday – England plays Switzerland. On Friday – it’s Spain and Germany and France plays Portugal.
