Wheelchair accessible vehicles and mobile medical vans made right here in Manitoba are getting a boost from the provincial government, the government announced today.
The government is providing $1.3 million in grant funding to support MoveMobility Inc., a wheelchair-accessible vehicle and mobile medical van manufacturer, to expand their operations at CentrePort, Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources Minister Jamie Moses announced. The province has said this will double the number of jobs at the plant.
“Supporting local businesses that are expanding into exciting new ventures and employing more Manitobans is a priority for our government,” said Moses. “MoveMobility’s new facility will help grow the economy, provide good jobs for skilled professionals and showcase Manitoba as a prime destination for manufacturing companies on the world stage.”
MoveMobility is based out of Winnipeg and manufactures and exports medical vans across Canada and to the Unites States. They’re planning a massive expansion with the construction of a new 60,000 sq.-ft. facility at CentrePort. Once the expansion is complete, MoveMobility will be able to manufacture type II ambulances as well.
MoveMobility currently employs 55 people, and the province said in a release they expect this expansion to allow that number to double.
