-The Brandon Wheat Kings open the WHL regular season tonight against the defending league champion Moose Jaw Warriors. A Tailgate Party kicks things of at 5:00 pm in the MNP Hall at Keystone Centre. Game time is 7:00 pm.
-The Brandon AAA Wheat Kings begin their pre-season schedule at J&G Homes Arena against the Southwest Cougars.
-The Winnipeg Jets host the Minnesota Wild Saturday for the first of 6 NHL pre-season games.
-In the CFL tonight – the Toronto Argos host the Hamilton Tiger Cats – and the Saskatchewan Roughriders visit the Calgary Stampeders. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-6) are in Edmonton on Saturday against the Elks (5-8).
-The Brandon University men’s and women’s soccer teams are in action this weekend. The Bobcats’ men (1-1-and-2) play Providence on Saturday and St. Boniface on Sunday with both matches beginning at 1:00 pm at Brandon’s Healthy Living Centre. The women (4-and-0) face the same two teams starting at 3:15 pm both days.
-and in the NFL last night – the New York Jets beat the New England Patriots 24-3.
