The City of Brandon has a highly regarded dual service department offering both Fire Protection and Ambulance Services. This department serves a population of about 53,230 within Brandon and around 7,000 individuals in the surrounding municipalities of Cornwallis, Elton, and Oakland-Wawanesa. The entire service area covers 1,255 square kilometres.
The department has a total staff complement of 96, headed by Chief of Emergency Services Terry Parlow, and Deputy Chiefs of Emergency Services Jason Potter and Marc Lefebvre. The department has two training officers, four fire prevention inspectors/officers, 16 officers, 68 firefighters/paramedics, and three administrative staff. Brandon Fire and Emergency Services employs both cross trained Firefighter/Paramedics as well as Paramedics who specialize in Community Paramedicine.
