Hundreds of thousands of vehicles are being recalled in Canada due to a steering issue that could increase a driver’s risk of a crash. Around 239,000 newer-model Honda and Acura vehicles are affected by the gearbox problem
which can make them hard to steer.

The Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit has created a website to share timely information about wanted people – and to take your tips. The Manitoba government has apologized in the legislature for clawing-back federal benefit payments to kids in the child welfare system. The apology was part of a settlement of a class-action lawsuit that’ll see the province pay out $530 million. Roughly 30,000 children will be compensated.

The province is putting $10 million into a new fund aimed at getting more affordable housing units on the market. The investment trust would work to attract private-sector investors, who’ll then build new housing or convert existing buildings into affordable units. Non-profits would run the buildings.

A majority of Canadian fathers believe they share raising the kids and household chores equally – but fewer moms say the same thing. A study found 64% of dads said it was all equal – compared to 46% of mothers. On average, fathers spent almost 5 hours a day looking after the kids – for mom it’s around 7.5.
