-President Donald Trump slapped a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports ‘without exception”; including Canada, signing that order Monday night AND; that other tariffs coming soon; The tariffs are scheduled to take effect in March.
In response from Paris, Prime Minister justin Trudeau called Trump’s tariffs “unacceptable, saying Tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum would be entirely unjustified; “We are the [United States’] closest ally. Our economies are integrated.”
-The Manitoba government is increasing school operating funding for the upcoming school year; by 3.4 per cent — the same increase as the current year.The province says it’s also adding $6.8 million to its $30-million school nutrition program, and tweaking its funding formula to help schools that face declining enrolment.

-Brandon Police stopped a vehicle Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Richmond Avenue. A 43-year-old female driver proceeded to fail two roadside breath devices. She received a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition
-Also Sunday, Police recovered a stolen black Dodge Charger in Brampton Ontario. The vehicle owner has been contacted.
-Extreme cold warnings have expanded in Manitoba, and Westman residents are warned to brace for frigid temperatures all this week. Overnight low temperatures near minus 30 with winds up to 25 km/h will produce extremely cold wind chill values of minus 40 this morning. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes.
