The City of Brandon Solid Waste Services has announced two key operational changes to its weekly collection schedule and has extended operational hours at the Eastview Landfill.
Starting June 17 – 20, 2025, recycling (blue bins) and organics (green bins) will move to a bi-weekly collection schedule, while refuse (black bins) will continue to be collected weekly. The City says these adjustments aim to reduce wear and tear on collection trucks, minimize breakdowns, and extend their operational lifespan.

This adjustment to bi-weekly collection also allows for the reallocation of resources to extend evening hours at the landfill. Beginning on June 17, the landfill will remain open until 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The complete schedule for hours of operation can be accessed at City of Brandon – Hours
Pam Richardson, the City of Brandon’s Public Works Director, shared, “We know our city is growing every year, and with that growth comes new challenges. The rising demand for the organics program and the ongoing need to support our services have made it clear that we need to adjust. These changes are all about improving efficiency, making the best use of our team’s efforts, and planning for a sustainable future—all while keeping costs in check. We’re committed to serving our community in the best way we can with the resources we have.”
Weekly organic collection will commence May 6 – 9, 2025, which coincides with International Compost Awareness Week. Free compost soil will be available this week at the Keystone Centre starting Mon, May 5 at 10 a.m. through til Sat, May 10. Residents are encouraged to bring their own buckets and shovels.
Reminder: on Sat, Apr. 26, the Eastview Landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and all City of Brandon residential waste can be disposed of free of charge. Proof of residence is required.
Residents are encouraged to visit City of Brandon – Bi-Weekly Collection for more information on the new bi-weekly collection schedule starting June 17 – 20, 2025.
