The provincial government is pouring money into recreational trail rehabilitation, and a walking trail in the Rossburn area will be among the many trails receiving funding.
Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes announced today the provincial government and Trails Manitoba were investing over $592,000 to improve more than 30 recreational trails around Manitoba. The funding comes from the Manitoba government’s Off-Road Vehicle Land and Trail Rehabilitation Grant program and the 2025 Trails Manitoba grant program.
“Trails provide important opportunities for Manitobans to spend time outdoors and enjoy nature all year long,” said Moyes. “This funding will help improve a number of walking, biking, skiing, all-terrain vehicle and snowmobile trails across the province and ensure Manitobans can continue to explore the great outdoors for many years to come.”
Among the projects listed in the provincial release, the Rossburn Subdivision Trail Association will receive $5230 for walking trail rehabilitation in the Erickson area. Other groups receiving funding include the Interlake Off Road Club Corporation, who will receive $50,000 for ATV trail rehabilitation, and North Mountain Riders Inc., who will receive $50,000 to install creek crossing pads to prevent environmental degradation in Porcupine Provincial Forest.
“Our trails are a defining feature of Manitoba’s natural and cultural landscape,” said Tim Coffin, executive director, Trails Manitoba. “They bring people together, support healthy lifestyles and create meaningful connections between communities and the land. We’re proud to work alongside local partners and the Manitoba government to grow and protect this vital network.”
