Military training exercises will be held in and around Brandon this week. An Air Force Griffon helicopter will be conducting flying operations within city limits – and the army will be training at various parks. There’s also a public open house planned for Thursday at Brandon Riverbank where you can view artillery guns and meet the soldiers.

It’s too late in the season to repaint the vandalized Pride crosswalk in Souris, so the town’s Pride Committee says they’ll do it in the spring, and mark the day with a celebration. RCMP say they’re looking for whoever used
white paint to cover the colourful crosswalk last weekend.

A homeowner in RM of Tache, southeast of Winnipeg, has removed a display that depicted the hanging of municipal politicians. RCMP have not laid charges, but the local council has discussed possible legal options. Experts say there has been a spike in threats against Canadian politicians in recent years.

Manitoba premier Wab Kinew reacted strongly to a Supreme Court of Canada ruling on child pornography saying offenders should not only go to prison for a long time, but be buried underneath them. The high court ruled that one year mandatory minimum jail sentences for child porn are unconstitutional. Kinew and other politicians want Ottawa to overrule the high court.
