RCMP said they have arrested two men after a traffic stop in the RM of South Cypress-Glenboro led to a search of a vehicle that netted drugs and a loaded handgun.
In a release, police said the Manitoba RCMP Roving Traffic Unit initiated a traffic stop at about 11:15 PM on February 14. During the stop, police allege an officer spotted both a controlled substance and a handgun.
Upon searching the vehicle, RCMP allege their officers found a loaded handgun, two kilograms of a substance believed to be cocaine, several grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and additional prohibited weapons. Two men, age 29 and 43, were arrested as a result, with both facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and several firearm related charges.
Police also said the vehicle’s driver was ticketed for driving a vehicle equipped with a radar detection device and carrying open liquor inside a vehicle.
