Using headphones in the workplace is becoming more normalized, and that’s because of Gen Z employees. Why? Because the younger working generation can’t work without them on. At least that’s what a poll of 2,000 white-collar workers, commissioned by Samsung Electronics, has found.
According to the survey:
- 64% of Gen Z “need” to be plugged in when working
- 27% of Gen X said the same
- 35% of workers struggle to work without headphones
- 55% use headphones to concentrate amid the background noise
- 34% said other people on calls is the most significant background distraction
Another thing? Almost half of the respondents said they typically listen to the same things every day. So, what are they listening to?
- 34% listen to pop
- 22% listen to podcasts
- 19% listen to rock
- 19% listen to classic music
- 9% listen to ambient sounds like rainfall or crackling fires
- 6% listen to heavy metal
