Lizzo announced on “CBS Mornings” yesterday that she is releasing her first children’s book, “Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’.”
The singer said the book shares the real story of how she started playing the flute, explaining, “Everyone always asked me my origin story with the flute… ‘Why flute, how flute?’”
Lizzo also revealed she has always loved writing and once hoped to write The Great American Novel, calling the project “a beautiful marriage of everything that’s me.”
The title references her famous flute, Sasha B. Flootin’, whose name was partly inspired by Beyoncé and her alter ego Sasha Fierce.
Lizzo said the book’s message centers on self-confidence, sharing “This is a story about finding your voice… the only way to find your voice is by being yourself.” The book drops on September 9th.
