For the first time since 2002, someone has won back-to-back Masters championships at Augusta. Rory McIlroy finished -12, one shot clear of Scottie Scheffler, to win his second consecutive Green Jacket. He is the first golfer to accomplish the feat since Tiger Woods.
It was a night to play spoiler in the NHL, as teams well out of the playoff picture pulled out a number of wins against teams battling it out for postseason positioning. Most notably, the eliminated Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks took wins over the Utah Mammoth and Anaheim Ducks respectively, while the New Jersey Devils (also eliminated) took two points from the Ottawa Senators.
The Brandon Wheat Kings could have a double dose of representation on Team Canada at the World Under-18s. Forward Jaxon Jacobson and defenseman Gio Pantelas have been named to Canada’s camp for the event. Canada brought 23 players to camp, a full roster, but may bring more once teams are eliminated from the CHL postseason.
The Toronto Blue Jays get a day off to recover from a thumping at the hands of the Minnesota Twins yesterday. The Jays will play tomorrow against the Milwaukee Brewers at 6:40.
