Portage la Prairie RCMP are investigating after a man allegedly pointed a firearm at two people inside a hotel on Saskatchewan Avenue West Tuesday afternoon. Police say a teenaged couple had argued with a male they knew, and during the confrontation he pulled out a handgun and aimed it at the male victim before leaving the area.
Out of caution, officers briefly placed the hotel — and a nearby school — under a hold‑and‑secure while they searched the building. A warrant was executed on the suspect’s room, where officers found a handgun, ammunition, cocaine and drug paraphernalia, though the suspect himself was gone.
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204‑857‑4445, Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑8477, or submit a tip at Manitoba Crime Stoppers.
