With the academic year now done, Assiniboine College is prepared to send another group of graduates out into the work force. This year’s list of graduates was over 2200 names long.
According to the college, they celebrated some 1793 of those graduates this month, and the largest of their graduation ceremonies took place today in Brandon. Graduates came from 19 locations across Manitoba.
“Graduation is more than a milestone, it’s a launch point,” said Assiniboine College President Mark Frison. “Our graduates are stepping into careers and communities with the skills, confidence, and resilience to make a real difference. Graduation represents a sense of optimism in uncertain times, and we’re incredibly proud of our Assiniboine graduates and the investment they’ve made in themselves and their futures.”
The college said this round of graduates will move into a wide variety of fields, ranging from healthcare to public safety to early learning. The Edna Edwards School of Nursing also 194 practical nursing graduates from six locations. 178 more graduates come from the Comprehensive Healthcare Aide program.
“I feel like a completely different person from the one who first started this program,” said valedictorian Keira Stephens, a graduate of the media and communications program, “and I owe that growth to my instructors for giving me an environment to learn and thrive in, my classmates for being a built-in support for when the course-load got heavy, and to my friends outside of school who were always impressed by the work I made and my family for cheering me on.”
Peters School of Business graduate Kristina Ivanova was presented with a Governor General’s Medal as part of the ceremony.
