Manitoba is entering the week with 15 active wildfires, down from 21 last week, and none of them are out of control — a rare point of stability as much of Canada faces elevated wildfire danger.
While Manitoba’s fire situation has eased, national agencies warn that wildfire risk remains high to extreme across large areas of Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories. Persistent heat, drought conditions, and early‑season lightning continue to drive fire activity across the West and North.
In Manitoba, all active fires are listed as either Monitored or Under Control, with most located in remote eastern and northern regions. The Manitoba Wildfire Service says conditions can still shift quickly as temperatures rise and fuels dry out, but the province remains in a comparatively steady position.
Where Fires Are Burning in Manitoba
Eastern Manitoba: Fires are burning near Bissett, Manigotagan, Nopiming Provincial Park, Pointe du Bois, and the Atikaki backcountry near the Ontario border.
Northern Manitoba: Additional fires are active west of Thompson, near Nelson House, around Split Lake, north of Gillam, and in remote areas stretching toward the Hudson Bay Lowlands and Churchill.
Despite the province’s calmer conditions, officials urge residents to stay alert and follow local burn restrictions. Manitoba’s wildfire dashboard and Manitoba 511 remain the best sources for real‑time updates.
