Canada’s most extensive competition for Arabian horses is coming back to Brandon in August.
The Arabian Horse Association has announced the return of the Canadian National Arabian Championship to Brandon at the Keystone Centre. The championships will begin on August 6 and carry on through August 15.
“Canada’s National Arabian Championship is a testament to everything that makes the Arabian horse community extraordinary,” said Taryl O’Shea, CEO, Arabian Horse Association, “the dedication of breeders and exhibitors, the talent of the horses, and the deep sense of tradition that connects generations of enthusiasts. As AHA continues to strengthen its partnership with The National Arabian Breed Society, events like this one are vital to the future of our breed in North America. We are proud to recognize this championship and look forward to celebrating another remarkable week of competition in Brandon.”
According to the AHA, this is the only competition in Canada where every discipline involving Arabian horses, including sport horse and working western, is under the same single roof. It brings together Arabian and Half-Arabian horses, exhibitors, breeders, trainers and enthusiasts from across Canada and the United States.
This will be the fifth year of the show since its current era launched in Red Deer in 2022. It will also be the second year the show carries official AHA recognition for national achievement points. The first of these shows took place in 1958.
The AHA added this year’s event will feature several new classes, as many as 400 horses, more than 300 exhibitors, and upwards of 75 trainers. They also said Arabian horses are “known for their beauty, intelligence, and versatility, Arabian horses are one of the oldest and most influential horse breeds in the world, shaping many modern equine disciplines today.”
