A 25-year-old man from Portage la Prairie died after falling off a roof he had been working on, according to Portage RCMP.
In a release, RCMP said they were called to an apartment block on 14th Street Northwest in Portage la Prairie at about 10:30 AM on June 15. They were told a man had fallen off the roof there.
“Upon arrival, officers saw EMS crews providing care to a person on the ground,” they said in their release. “Officers learned the male was working as a roofer when he fell approximately 12 to 15 feet to the ground. It does not appear he was wearing a safety harness at the time. The male, a 25-year-old from Portage la Prairie, died at the scene.”
RCMP and Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health are investigating.
