Two WestMan RMs are on the list of recipients of provincial grants for combating Aquatic Invasive Species or AIS, Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes announced today.
In a release, the provincial government said Rossburn Municipality would receive $53,500 in funding, while the RM of Prairie Lakes would receive $100,000. In total, today’s announcement details $410,000 in funding.
“Manitobans care deeply about the province’s beautiful lakes and rivers, and working with communities is a great way to protect the waters we cherish from aquatic invasive species,” said Moyes. “Our government’s Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Fund helps deliver AIS prevention resources to partners across the province, extending the reach of AIS prevention through intergovernmental and community collaboration.”
The release also states the province’s Budget 2026 invests more than $2.2 million in protecting aquatic ecosystems from invasive species.
