Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust
On June 21st at 9:10 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted involving an SUV in the back lane of the 700 block of 10th Street. The registered owner and driver, a 33-year-old male, was found to be in possession of unstamped cigarettes that were in plain view. A further search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a sealed 765-gram bag of methamphetamine located under the front passenger seat. Additionally, approximately 2 grams of crack cocaine, divided into three equal packages, were located, along with a cellphone and $135 in cash. A small folding knife was also found tucked under the driver’s seat.
The vehicle was seized pursuant to The Criminal Property Forfeiture Act and towed.
The male is bound by an Undertaking requiring him to reside at an address in Sioux Valley; however, he admitted that he resides in Winnipeg.
The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $37,500, based on a value of $50 per gram.
The male was brought to Brandon Police Service where he was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of June 22nd, 2026. Charges include Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Meth, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Crack Cocaine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime, Possession of a Weapon, and Failure to Comply Undertaking. The male is also served with a Contravention Notice for possession of fewer than 25 units of unmarked tobacco contrary to the Tobacco Tax Act.
Breach of the Peace x2
At 9:45 p.m., Brandon Police Service received multiple calls regarding a male and female yelling and causing a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of 12th Street East. Police attended and located the highly intoxicated and uncooperative pair. Neither party disclosed that an assault had occurred, and there were no witnesses to suggest that an assault had taken place. The homeowner advised that both individuals were no longer welcome at the residence.
The 22-year-old male had a laceration on his forehead that required stitches; however, he was adamant that the injury occurred when he tripped and struck his head. He was transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre for treatment and was subsequently taken to Brandon Police Service, where he would be held until sober and then released.
The 28-year-old female was initially transported to Brandon Police Service. However, due to a health concern unrelated to the incident, she was taken to Brandon Regional Health Centre. Once she became more cooperative, she was transferred to hospital security and released from Brandon Police Service custody.
Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours two individuals were held in BPS detention cells under the PDCIPA. They will be released once sober.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. One individual was released with a scheduled Court date in July, and one was held for court in the morning on June 22nd, 2026.
Assault
On May 29th, 2026, an assault was reported to have occurred at a business in the 100 block of 4th Street. A 37-year-old female approached a 27-year-old female known to her and began punching her in the face.
On June 21st, 2026, the suspect was located at a residence in Buttercup Bay and arrested. She was subsequently transported to Brandon Police Service, where she was fingerprinted and later released on an Undertaking. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 24th, 2026.
Fraudulently Obtaining Food / Breach of Release Order
On June 21st at 5:03 p.m., a 35-year-old male and a 35-year-old female were reported to have left a restaurant on Highland Avenue without paying for their meal. Both individuals were located hiding near the business and were arrested. Following their arrest, police determined that both were in breach of their Release Orders, which required that they have no contact with one another and reside in Quebec. Both accused were arrested and held in BPS cells for court on the morning of June 22nd, 2026.
