Farm Credit Canada is renewing its partnership with the Canadian Centre for Agricultural Wellbeing, committing $1.8 million over three years to support and expand the National Farmer Wellness Network Crisis Line. The service, available at 1‑866‑FARMS01, offers no‑cost, confidential mental‑health and crisis support tailored specifically to farmers, farm families and agricultural workers across the country.
Launched in February 2025, the crisis line connects producers with licensed mental‑health professionals trained through the Canadian Agricultural Literacy Program, ensuring callers receive support from people who understand the unique pressures of farming life. FCC’s renewed investment will keep the service operating uninterrupted while allowing the network to reach more producers who need immediate, culturally informed care.
Officials say the demand for farm‑focused mental‑health support continues to grow as producers face financial volatility, isolation, unpredictable weather and the emotional strain of managing land and livestock. The crisis line was designed to address gaps in traditional services, which often aren’t equipped to respond to agriculture‑specific stressors.
Leaders with both FCC and CCAW say the renewed partnership strengthens a nationwide network of care and reinforces the message that farmers are not alone. The funding also supports ongoing collaboration with provincial organizations to help connect producers with longer‑term mental‑health resources beyond the crisis line.
