Brandon’s city‑wide mosquito fogging is expected to resume tonight — Thursday, July 30 — weather permitting, after rainfall last night forced a delay. Because DeltaGard must adhere to dry surfaces to work properly, wet conditions would prevent the insecticide from sticking and sharply reduce its effectiveness.
With only two full applications of DeltaGard available for the season, the City says it is waiting for optimum conditions to ensure each round delivers maximum impact.
DeltaGard, which contains deltamethrin, meets Health Canada’s outdoor‑use safety standards. It is considered low‑risk when applied correctly, but residents should still avoid direct contact with the mist. Pets and children should remain indoors during fogging and until the spray has settled, as deltamethrin can cause mild skin or eye irritation with direct exposure.
Fogging is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. tonight, pending weather conditions. Residents can follow the City’s social channels for updates.
