A 38-year-old Brandon woman faces charges of careless driving after a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured in Brandon on July 7.
According to Brandon police, a car struck a 16-year-old girl crossing the street. Following the collision, they investigated and concluded that charges were warranted. Police allege the vehicle was moving within the posted speed limit at the time of the crash, but the driver was not paying proper attention to the roadway.
“Following a comprehensive investigation of the July 7th incident,” said BPS in a release, “including the review of video surveillance, examination of the collision scene, analysis of physical evidence, and consultation with Crown prosecutors, it has been determined that charges are appropriate.”
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old female has been charged with Careless Driving and has also been issued a Serious Offence Notice under The Highway Traffic Act.
The teenager was transported to Winnipeg for treatment for what police described as serious but non-life threatening injuries.
