Breach of the Peace
On August 3rd at 12:36 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Maryland Avenue. A 42-year-old man punched his 17-year-old son in the face after the youth declined to let him pawn some of his video games for drug money. The 17-year-old was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital as a precaution. The suspect was arrested but was later released after the victim and the youth’s mother declined to cooperate with the investigation and indicated they did not wish to pursue charges.
Failure to Comply Release Order / Obstruct Police / Resist Arrest
On August 3rd at 4:38 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop involving a taxi in the 200 block of 17th Street. The female passenger exited the taxi and began walking away, while officers recognized the 28-year-old male passenger. Police identified the woman and confirmed the man was subject to a no-contact order prohibiting contact with her.
The male provided officers with a false name and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. He was arrested and brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. He is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of August 4th, 2026.
Assault by Choking
On August 4th at 7:51 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a domestic assault at a residence in the 200 block of 26th Street. A 41-year-old man had grabbed his 40-year-old wife by the face and neck during an argument and choked her. Red marks were observed around her neck and cheeks. He was arrested and, as he had no suitable secondary address for release, was brought to BPS detention cells. He is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of August 4th, 2026.
Assault / Failure to Comply Undertaking x2
On August 4th at 1:33 a.m., police responded to a report of a domestic assault after receiving a call that a man was attacking his former partner by kicking her in the head and punching her in the face. Officers attended the residence and found the victim suffering from visible injuries. Although she was bleeding, she declined medical treatment and ambulance transport. The suspect had fled the scene on foot but was located by police nearby and arrested. Police determined the man was bound by court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from communicating with the woman or attending her residence following a previous assault in June. He was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells. He is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of August 4th, 2026.
