The Swan River RCMP has arrested six people following a drug‑trafficking investigation that led officers to a residence on the 300‑block of 7th Avenue South late Friday afternoon. Police executed multiple search warrants at the home, outbuildings and vehicles on the property around 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 28, seizing cocaine, cash and drug‑related materials.
The operation was led by the Swan River RCMP General Investigation Section, with support from local officers, the West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, West District GIS and Police Dog Services.
In total, officers seized approximately 45 grams of powder cocaine, various drug paraphernalia including scales and packaging materials, nearly $1,600 in cash, and three pellet guns resembling handguns. All six individuals at the residence were arrested without incident.
Charges have now been laid against several suspects. Carla Slepicka, 49, of Swan River, is charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Wayne Cook, 45, of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both were remanded into custody.
Four others — Michael Makasoff, 38, of Swan River; Lawrence Severight, 56, of Cote First Nation; Dustin McDuff, 45, of Swan River; and Kaylee Keefe, 22, of Kenville — face trafficking‑related charges and were released on undertakings.
RCMP say the investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to follow leads connected to the property and the broader drug‑trafficking network in the region.
