If it means leaving the dog at home, many people are rethinking their travel plans.
A new survey of 2,000 pet owners found that 70% limit how long they’ll travel because of their pets, while 45% have turned down trips altogether if their furry friend couldn’t come along. Nearly half admit they feel guilty leaving pets behind, and 47% say they spend their trip worrying about how their pet is doing.
Younger pet owners are especially likely to bring their animals on the road, with 75% of Gen Z and 70% of millennials saying they’ve taken a pet on a road trip in the past five years.
The biggest hurdle? Finding pet-friendly places to stay, which topped the list of travel challenges for pet owners.
It turns out for a lot of people, vacations aren’t just about packing for themselves anymore—they’re packing for their pets, too.
