A 34-year-old man from Oakland-Wawanesa faces multiple weapons-related charges after a seizure by Brandon RCMP netted six firearms, three of which were prohibited.
According to police, they found out a man was illegally in possession of firearms and executed a search warrant on August 31 at about 6:00 AM. They allege the owner of the residence has multiple court orders prohibiting him from possessing firearms and/or weapons.
Brandon RCMP were assisted in executing the warrant by officers from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST) and the RCMP West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST).
During their search of the residence, police said they found six firearms, magazines, a large amount of ammunition and a tactical-style knife. Three of the firearms, some of the ammunition and one of the magazines were prohibited. They arrested a suspect without incident.
Bryce McMillan, 34, of the RM of Oakland-Wawanesa is charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, and failure to comply with a release order condition. None of the charges against him have been proven in court.
He was released on a release order.
