On Oct. 10, at approximately 1:30 p.m., RCMP were alerted to a break and enter that was occurring at a commercial business on 4th Avenue Northeast in Portage la Prairie.
Officers learned the property owner had found a male suspect inside the secure compound after multiple vehicles had been damaged and attempts had been made to steal a motorcycle. A stolen truck and flat bed trailer was parked near the business and was subsequently linked to the suspect, who was chased from the scene by the property owner.
RCMP converged on the area and flew a drone overhead, locating the suspect as he hid in deep brush just northeast of the business. The suspect, who resisted arrest, was safely taken into custody. He was transported to hospital after appearing to be in distress, then released without need for treatment and taken into police custody.
RCMP Police Dog Services also assisted in the investigation.
Ante Milas, 44, of Winnipeg is charged with:
- Break and enter;
