Six people face a long list of drug and weapons charges following a raid tied to an ongoing trafficking investigation
Six people have been arrested after RCMP officers seized firearms, cocaine and a stolen motorcycle during a drug trafficking investigation on Ebb and Flow First Nation.
On Oct. 20, members of the RCMP’s West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST), with assistance from officers from Ste. Rose du Lac and Portage la Prairie, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of Central Road.
Police say the search was part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
During the search, officers seized two Glock handguns, including one that was loaded, a loaded prohibited AR-style rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, prohibited magazines and ammunition. Investigators also located approximately five ounces of cocaine, unstamped tobacco and $700 in cash.
A motorcycle reported stolen from Portage la Prairie was also recovered from the property.
Six individuals inside the residence were arrested without incident. Those charged include:
- 23-year-old Hillary Desjarlais of Ebb and Flow First Nation
- 21-year-old Dante Houle of Winnipeg
- 23-year-old Joshua Houle of Dakota Tipi First Nation
- 19-year-old Lyndon Houle of Ebb and Flow First Nation
- 24-year-old Jayden Kakewash of Ebb and Flow First Nation
- 42-year-old Bradley Whitford of Ebb and Flow First Nation
All six are facing multiple charges, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, firearms offences, possession of body armour without a permit and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
RCMP say some of the accused are also facing additional charges related to weapons offences and breaches of release conditions.
Joshua Houle was remanded into custody following a court appearance. The remaining accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police have not released further details as the investigation continues.
