Theresa Oswald, who is well known for her role in health in Manitoba, is receiving an award.
Assiniboine College will present Oswald with an Honorary Diploma in Health Leadership, recognizing her contributions to Manitoba’s health-care sector, public service, education and leadership.
“It is a tremendous honour,” said Oswald. “Being recognized by an esteemed educational institution in Manitoba truly goes to my personal and professional heart.”
After beginning her career in education, Oswald entered provincial politics in 2003, including serving as the province’s minister of health from 2006 to 2013.
Her work in health care continued beyond politics, and she now serves as CEO of Doctors Manitoba, advocating for a stronger, more sustainable health-care system.
Assiniboine College president Mark Frison said her career emphasizes the need for strong leadership and public service.
“Theresa’s career is a powerful reminder that leadership is ultimately about serving others,” Frison said.
Assiniboine College awards honorary diplomas to individuals whose achievements and service have made lasting contributions to their professions and communities.
The college will present Oswald with her diploma at the RBC Convention Centre on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m., alongside its graduating class.
