Hockey Manitoba’s Senior Women’s Championship is on tap this weekend in Brandon and the host Assiniboine Community College Cougars want to make a statement from the start.
The Cougars are competing for the Senior ‘B’ Division title and play their first game Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena.
"The first game is always the most important one. It sets the tone for the weekend and we definitely want to do very well that first game and we want to come ready to play," coach Terry Arksey said on this week’s edition of Monday Sports Talk on 880, CKLQ.
ACC has had mixed results at past provincials, losing in the consolation final last year, going winless in 2012 and winning a bronze medal three years ago.
Sunday’s championship final goes at 2:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the Western Canadian Shield in April in Red Deer.
Arksey’s conversation with Tyler Crayston and Lanny Stewart is below…
