Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – When the game was tied up at 39 at halftime, the Brandon Bobcats men’s basketball teams looked to be putting up a fight against the 4th best U Sports team in the country.
But the Calgary Dinos showed why they are put on that pedestal with a dominant second half to win 92-70 at the Healthy Living Centre.
Mambi Diawara led the way for Calgary with 21 points, shooting 6 for 17 in the game.
The Dinos finished with a 43.8% shooting percentage, while hitting 26% of their threes. The Bobcats suffered at the the-point line, hitting only four shots the whole game.
Brandon is now 2-3 on the year, while Calgary remains unbeaten with a 7-0 record.
Meanwhile, in the earlier game, the women’s basketball team took down Calgary with a 69-53 win.
The Bobcats defense shut down the Dinos offense, getting them to shoot 30% on the night.
Brandon got a balanced attack, with five players hitting double digits in points, and Keisha Cox leading the way with 13 points.
Both teams play on Saturday against Calgary, with the men’s game at 5:00pm, and the women’s game at 7:00pm at the Healthy Living Centre.
In Regina, the Bobcats men’s volleyball team beat Regina in straight sets, while the women’s team lost in five sets to the Rams.
